Verified card compatibility
Rugged Computers for Multi-Port Serial Cards (RS-232/422/485)
Serial is still the wire protocol of industrial equipment: PLCs, motion controllers, legacy instruments and building systems that will outlive several generations of controller PC. The multi-port adapters below are verified in DuroPC systems — RocketPort EXPRESS on PCIe for high port counts, and Sealevel's COMM+4.PCI where the installation is standardized on the PCI card and its driver stack.
Port type matters more than port count in practice: both cards select RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 per port in software, which is what lets one chassis serve a mixed field bus without media converters.
