Verified card compatibility

Rugged Computers for GPIB Instrument Control (IEEE 488)

Decades of bench instruments — meters, sources, analyzers, calibrators — still speak IEEE 488, and the programs that own them replace the controller PC far more often than the instruments. The National Instruments GPIB controllers below are verified in DuroPC systems: PCIe-GPIB for current platforms, and the classic PCI-GPIB for labs standardized on the older card and its NI-488.2 stack.

Keeping a PCI-GPIB card in service is one of the most common reasons customers specify a rackmount with free legacy PCI slots; the same chassis usually carries serial and DAQ cards from the same era.

National Instruments PCIe-GPIB(778930-01)

PCIe x1 IEEE 488.2 GPIB controller — the current-production path for keeping GPIB-controlled bench instruments running from a modern computer. Verified in DuroPC systems.

National Instruments PCI-GPIB(778032-01)

Classic PCI IEEE 488.2 GPIB controller, verified in DuroPC systems — the reason many labs still specify rackmounts with free legacy PCI slots.

The legacy list recorded part number 778032-01 as a "PCI DAQ device"; that part number is NI's PCI-GPIB controller, transcribed here under its documented identity.
